DGACCP - Directorate-General for Consular Affairs and Portuguese Communities

DGACCP is a central service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, whose mission is to ensure the consular activity and protection abroad, as well as the coordination and implementation of the emigration supporting policy and the Portuguese communities abroad.

Its main attributions are to:

• guarantee the provision of consular support to Portuguese citizens abroad and to citizens of other European Union Member States
• guide and supervise the action of consular posts in terms of visas
• ensure the unity of State action in the field of international consular relations
• conceive and propose action plans regarding Portuguese citizens living abroad
